Everything about Lichtenvoorde totally explained
Lichtenvoorde is a town in the
Netherlands, in the municipality of
Oost Gelre.
Until
January 1,
2005, Lichtenvoorde was an independent municipality. It includes also four small villages:
Lievelde, Zieuwent, Vragender and Harreveld. The number of inhabitants in this municipality is about 20,000.
The "Lichtenvoordse" people are known as the
keienslöppers (brick trailers). They have a huge
boulder at their
marketplace with a stone lion on top. These are the symbols of the
village.
Once a year, as start of the fair, there's a huge flower-parade. Large creations, 5 m wide, 8 m high and as long as they want, they express anything the groups want, from fairytales to expressions, from daily things to art. This event takes place every 2nd Sunday of September, and comes from the ancient harvest fests.
Famous are the many international motocross events, several grand prix.
